Nikon Coolpix P100 Review
Nikon Coolpix P100 does an excellent job in filling the gap between a full blown DSLR camera (with lots of different lenses and a gigantic/heavy camera bag that you have to carry with you all the time!) and a small point and shoot camera that fits in your front pocket. Even professional photographers use it regularly due to its relatively small size and great capabilities it offers.
I wrote this Nikon Coolpix P100 review to tell you why is it so great!
Nikon Coolpix P100 is VERY EASY to use! After an hour or so, you can be using this camera and all of its functionalities with no difficulties. It is very recommended though to read the whole manual as soon as possible as you could not be aware of all of its possibilities! It is 200 pages and well written, packed with easy to understand how-tos.
Nikon P100 takes beautiful pictures, both in vibrant settings as well as in low light settings. Clarity and focus of the shots are just amazing. And its powerful 26x zoom simply rocks! With such a wide angle lens you can take some unimaginable close up shots and beautiful scenery shots.
With this Nikon you can also shoot high quality videos. Its video capabilities are very good, even for such a small camera. It can shoot up to 2 hours of Full HD movies (1080p) with stereo sound. Both the camera’s optical zoom and autofocus functions continue to be available while filming. A stereo microphone accurately captures audio.
Nikon Coolpix P100 is light, easy to hold with a single hand even for a longer time. Despite of that, it is built solidly and sturdy.
The battery is EN-EL5 Rechargeable Li-ion Battery, which lasts long enough to make more than 300 pictures even with using the zoom extensively.

What are the shortcomings of this camera?
The zoom motor is a bit noisier than in other cameras, which can be annoying when shooting in quiet environments.
There is no RAW image option, which means you cannot get your photos in raw format for further editing, but with tools like Corel Image Adjustment Lab you can have color temperature correction on jpg.
There is no remote shutter, so you have to play with the timer function instead.
